DAA Art Residency, Bodrum, 2025 🌿
Just before leaving Bodrum in June, Nela returned cotton and wool threads to their roots — tying them around a pine tree in our garden. Whether they remain wrapped around its trunk or fall to the ground to mingle with seeds, branches, and buds…
This gesture became her way of honouring the beautiful journey she shared with the local craftswomen she met in Bodrum. When she arrived in Türkiye as our guest artist, this community of women welcomed her instantly — with their laughter, their craft, their tea, and their stories. Together they laughed, created, explored the markets, and gathered at the residency dreaming of patches and shared creations.
This work stands as a thank-you — to these lands, to the friendships so generously offered, and to the moments lived in Bodrum and at DAA
Before departing, we also hosted a community gathering in Bodrum, where Nela shared her process, stories, and the work she developed during her stay. That time, she says, was a true gift.
