A place steeped in history

DAA Studios are located on a secluded 15-acre farm property in the hills of the Bodrum peninsula, in southwestern Turkey. The ancient city of Bodrum was once home to the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Living in harmony with nature

Situated between the mountains and the forest, we are an off-the-grid property committed to sustainability. We produce our own solar electricity, and draw water from an on-campus well. We support local businesses and choose environmentally friendly  products whenever possible.

DAA Art Residency provides two distinct houses designed to support sustained artistic work and quiet communal exchange. These are not guest rooms; they are inhabitable studios and domestic environments shaped for research, focus and slow collaboration.

The Pine House

A warm, timber-built home that opens directly to the landscape. The Woodland House holds a slow, grounded atmosphere shaped by natural light, tactile materials and the presence of the surrounding forest. Domestic spaces can fluidly shift into studio use; any special spatial needs can be discussed during planning.

The ROCK House

A compact, resilient house built from local stone and concrete, offering a more concentrated, workshop-oriented environment. The Stone House foregrounds material investigation and intensive studio time. The house is intentionally simple; domestic comfort is present but secondary to studio function; any special spatial needs can be discussed during planning.

Shared Ethos & Logistics

Both houses are framed by the residency’s commitment to process-led time, mutual respect and resource-sharing. They are not hospitality products; they are configured to prioritise artistic practice and the rhythms of studio life.

Residencies are scheduled to allow uninterrupted work periods. Residents receive a short orientation that covers logistics, equipment and local ecology. Responsibility for the upkeep of domestic spaces is shared among residents and residency staff to sustain a hospitable creative environment.

Close yet secluded

The property is a five-minute drive from the traditional village of Dağbelen, and half an hour from Bodrum city center. The property is situated on the Leleg road, a crucial route for trade and cultural exchange between the ancient civilizations of the Aegean and Mediterranean regions.
