Pinprick
AUTUMN 2026 | October-November
Pinprick is an interdisciplinary art and design studio founded in Eskişehir, Türkiye, in 2021 by Hayrettin Taşkaya, an artist and interior architect, and İsmail Dönmez, an art historian and embroidery artist. Working collaboratively across their respective disciplines, the duo brings traditional craftsmanship into dialogue with contemporary imagery, mythology, and the complexities of human existence.
At the heart of Pinprick’s practice is an exploration of the stories and symbols that connect different cultures and generations. Drawing on cosmogonies, myths, esoteric narratives, gender, and questions of individual and collective identity, their work looks for shared codes within seemingly distant cultural traditions. Through the punch needle technique and other traditional methods, they revisit the possibilities of handcraft, bringing renewed attention to the relationship between material, image, and storytelling.
Their works reflect on the contemporary world’s constant bombardment of images and the questions it raises about our relationship with one another and our own humanity. Using a mythic visual language, Pinprick transforms these concerns into tactile, symbolic compositions that move between the familiar and the imagined. Alongside their handcrafted works, the duo creates digital, imaginary spaces in which their pieces are presented, extending their practice into virtual realms.
Bridging traditional techniques and digital environments, Pinprick creates a space where ancient narratives meet contemporary realities, inviting viewers to reconsider the symbols, stories, and shared experiences through which we make sense of the world.
